Since 2006 and within the scope of SightCity, ACTO e. V. has organized an on-going lecture and discussion program, the “SightCity Forum”, which takes place on all three days of the event.
Here, experts and concerned persons share their knowledge of recent scientific and medical developments as well as information about social legislation in the field of low vision with those interested. The daily patient symposia with general discussions including the latest research findings on diagnosis and therapy have also generated a huge response among the participants. After these symposia, concerned persons and their relatives welcome the opportunity to ask questions.
The self-help organizations “PRO RETINA Germany e. V.”, the German Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired “(DBSV) e. V.” as well as vocational training institutes have all taken an integral part in conceiving the forum.
In 2015 and 2016 the Forum was financed by the compensation fund of the German Federal Ministry for Labor and Social Affairs. From 2017 to 2019, it will be supported by the “Marga und Walter Boll Foundation”.
